Crisp smashed burger tacos with melted cheese, jalapeños and burger sauce
These smashed burger tacos are a game-changer for your next barbecue. Cooked over hot coals, the beef is pressed straight into the tortillas so it forms a crisp, caramelised crust while staying juicy inside. Finished with melted American cheese, pickled jalapeños and a tangy mayo, ketchup and mustard sauce, they bring together the comfort of a smashed burger with the smoky ease of live fire cooking.
Plancha Grilling
Method
PREP THE TACOS
Roll the mince into balls with your hands. Place one ball onto a tortilla, cover with greaseproof paper, and use the Burger Press to press the mince into the taco. Season generously with salt and pepper, then repeat with the remaining tortillas.
PREP THE SAUCE
In a bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard. Stir in the finely diced gherkins until well combined.
PREP THE LETTUCE AND ONION
Finely slice the onion and shred the lettuce. Add the sauce to the lettuce and onion in a bowl and mix well.
COOK THE TACOS
Push the hot charcoal to one side of the Plancha, creating a high-heat and low-heat zone. Place each taco beef side down over the higher heat and cook for a few minutes until the beef is browned and crisp. Flip each taco and move to the cooler side of the plate.
MELT THE CHEESE
Top each taco with a slice of American cheese. Splash the Plancha Plate with a little water and cover with the BBQ Cloche so the cheese melts gently over the beef.
FINISH AND SERVE
Once the cheese has melted, top with the pickled jalapeños and the lettuce and onion mix. Serve immediately, straight from the fire.
