What does the Travel Kadai kit include?

The Travel Kadai kit includes a 40cm Kadai Portable BBQ, stand, grill, tongs, cotton duffle bag and 2.5L Kadai Beads. It is designed as a compact camping BBQ that can be used for cooking over charcoal and enjoying the warmth of a small fire once you have finished cooking. The cotton duffle bag makes it easy to pack down and transport for camping trips, beach days, picnics and outdoor adventures.

What accessories can I use with the Travel Hook?

The Travel Hook is designed to work with the Travel Kettle and Travel BBQ Skillet, allowing you to suspend cookware over the fire. It is ideal for boiling water, making tea, frying, sizzling or cooking smaller dishes over live flame. The hook is compatible with the 40cm Travel Kadai bowl and folds down in sections so it can be packed away with your travel setup.

What accessories can I use with the Travel BBQ?

The Travel Kadai collection includes compact accessories designed specifically for outdoor cooking on the go. You can use the Travel BBQ Lid, Travel Hook, Travel Kettle, Travel BBQ Skillet, Travel BBQ Skewers, Travel BBQ Grill Tray, Travel Wind Guard and Camping Stool with the range. Together, they let you grill, sear, boil, roast, smoke, sit and gather around your portable BBQ setup.

How will my Travel Kadai weather over time?

Your Travel Kadai is made from mild steel, so natural oxidisation and surface rust will develop over time, especially when exposed to heat and outdoor conditions. This is expected and does not affect the performance of the bowl; it forms part of the character and patina of a well-used Kadai. Regular care will help protect the metal and keep your Travel Kadai in good condition for years of outdoor cooking.

How do I take care of my Travel Kadai?

Allow your Travel Kadai to cool completely before cleaning, then remove ash and debris from the bowl and keep the Kadai Beads clear so airflow and drainage are not blocked. We recommend treating the bowl and mild steel accessories with a suitable protective oil, such as Owatrol Oil, once a year or whenever the metal shows signs of heavy oxidisation. Store the Travel Kadai dry where possible, and pack it away in the cotton duffle bag only once it is fully cool and clean.

Can I use wood and charcoal in the Travel Kadai?

Yes, the Travel Kadai can be used with both charcoal and suitable dry wood. Charcoal is best for barbecue cooking because it creates steady, long-lasting heat, while wood is ideal when you want more flame, warmth and atmosphere after cooking. Always use the Travel Kadai only in places where fires are permitted, seek permission where needed and leave no trace when cooking outdoors.
