How to Use the Kadai Charcoal Maker

1. Fill it with Hardwood
Gather small, dried hardwood pieces such as oak, beech, or fruitwoods. Stack them tightly into the Charcoal Maker drum to ensure even carbonisation.

2. Seal and Ignite
Secure the lid, then place the drum into the embers of your fire after cooking or relaxing. Add a few logs around it to build up the flames. As the process begins, steam will escape, that’s the moisture being released. Sit back and enjoy the fire while the transformation begins.

3. Burn Low and Slow
Leave the Charcoal Maker nestled in the heat for around two hours. When the smoke turns from thick grey to white or bluish, your charcoal is almost ready.

4. Cool Completely
Remove the drum only once it’s cool to the touch, or leave it overnight in your Kadai Fire Pit. Opening too early could cause the charcoal to ignite.

5. Harvest and Enjoy
Your charcoal is now ready, clean-burning, chemical-free, and perfect for grilling, searing, or slow cooking. Use it in your Kadai for consistent heat and natural flavour.

Clean Fuel: Homemade lump charcoal burns hot and clean, producing minimal smoke and maximum flavour.
Eco-Friendly: You’re recycling hardwood waste and avoiding packaging or imported charcoal.
Empowering: Making your own charcoal connects you to every stage of the live-fire process, from wood to flame.
