Celebrating a Better Food Future in Shropshire

At Kadai, we’ve always believed that food is about more than what’s on the plate. It’s about where it comes from, who grows it, how it’s produced and, perhaps most importantly, the people we share it with.

That’s why we’re proud to be partnering with Shropshire Good Food Trail as a sponsor for 2026.

Their work to create a more resilient, connected and sustainable local food system feels like a natural fit with what Kadai is all about: good food, outdoor cooking, community and a closer connection to the ingredients we eat.

What is Shropshire Good Food Partnership?

Shropshire Good Food Trail is part of the wider Shropshire Good Food Partnership, which brings together producers, growers, independent businesses, communities and organisations to help create a stronger local food system.

It’s about joining the dots between farmers and customers, producers and shops, growers and communities and helping people discover the fantastic food being produced right here in Shropshire.

Their Good Food Trail and map make it easier to find local producers, food businesses, shops and places to eat, helping people understand more about where their food comes from and encouraging us to support the people growing and making it.

For Kadai, that connection is really important. We love cooking outdoors, but great outdoor cooking starts with great ingredients, and there are some incredible producers right on our doorstep.

  • A woman in a green t-shirt, blue jeans, and a straw hat gardening in a lush green outdoor garden.
  • A long outdoor dining table set with bowls of food, bottles, glasses, and floral tablecloths, surrounded by a group of people seated and standing in a field under a canopy. Shropshire Good Food Trail launch day.
  • A lush greenhouse interior with rows of green plants, hanging yellow strings, and a curved metal frame covered with translucent material.

From Seed to Plate

A big part of building a more resilient food system is understanding that food doesn’t simply appear on a supermarket shelf.

Shropshire Good Food Partnership encourages people to think about what they can grow, save and share themselves, from planting vegetables to saving seeds for the following season.

Seed saving can be as simple as letting some of your plants go to seed rather than harvesting everything, then collecting those seeds to plant again the following year. It’s a small action, but one that helps us become less reliant on buying new seed and keeps people connected to the natural cycle of growing food.

There’s a real simplicity to this approach that resonates with Kadai. Growing something, harvesting it, cooking it over fire and sharing it with friends and family creates a much stronger connection with food.

Issue 1: Abundance

The Partnership has also launched Abundance, a new online magazine celebrating the people, ideas and projects helping to shape Shropshire’s food future. It brings together stories from across the local food system, exploring everything from growing and farming to nature, community and the people working to make food in Shropshire more sustainable and resilient.

Good Food Should Be For Everyone

The work of Shropshire Good Food Partnership also extends beyond growing and producing food.

They work with food banks and communities, helping to make good food more accessible while supporting a food system that works for more people.

This is an important part of the bigger picture. Food resilience isn’t simply about having more food available; it’s about creating a system where communities have better access to good food, local knowledge and the resources they need to thrive.

That focus on community is something Kadai strongly believes in too. Gathering around food has always been a way of bringing people together, and we’re proud to support an organisation that recognises just how important food can be in creating stronger communities.

  • A woman wearing a straw hat, sunglasses, a green t-shirt, and blue jeans stands in a sunny field of leafy plants, gesturing with her hand toward the vegetation.
  • A wooden garden label fork with the word 'Chart' written on it, standing in a black seed-starting tray filled with soil and small green and red plants, photographed outdoors with a blurred natural background.
  • A close-up of a flowering plant with clusters of small pale pink to white blossoms and dark seed heads, surrounded by green foliage in an outdoor garden setting.

Why Kadai Is Proud to Be Involved

For Kadai, this partnership feels like a very natural fit. We’re based in Shropshire, surrounded by farmers, growers, producers and independent food businesses, and our products are designed to bring people together around food and fire.

A Kadai can be used to cook vegetables grown in your garden, meat from a local farm or ingredients picked up from a nearby producer. It can turn those ingredients into something to share around the fire, bringing together friends, family and community.

That simple journey from soil, to producer, to plate, to fire, to people, is something we’re passionate about.

By supporting Shropshire Good Food Trail as a 2026 sponsor, Kadai is proud to play a part in the work being done to build a more resilient local food system and celebrate the people making it happen.

Because a better food future starts locally. And sometimes, it starts with something as simple as growing something, cooking something and sharing it with others.
